The FakeOutsIt's only rock'n roll

Mike Maumill

(LEAD VOCALS / GUITAR)

Mike MaumillMike sung at an early age in choirs and around the city and in family events. He started singing at Concerts and Weddings and other events in the early 90’s and then went on to lead vocals from mid to late nineties with a band named Mordecai whom Emiel our drummer was also a part of. Mike's been around bands for awhile now, singing and playing covers, writing songs and original music.

In the mid 90's Mike went back to Ballroom Dancing for several years and competed at a high level. He also taught, performed and was invited and sponsored to tour parts of Malaysia to promote Ballroom Dancing and Compete in their events.  Mike has recently returned this year to the Ballroom Dancing scene and hopefully will make a new impact on the dancing scene very soon.

Mike is eclectic and admires all types of music from the Twenties to the Big Bands and Johnny Mercer, to 80's rock and even heavier influences and alternative. I guess 50’s and 60's music is what Mike really grew up on though and at an early age he listened to the music regularly.

Mike endeavours to be a man of many talents and whilst he manages The Fakeouts with the help of the guys, he also continues to be a business man with other long term ventures.

Mike also plays a bit of guitar too so you might be lucky enough to see him slapping a few strings again one day.

Chris MawsonChris Mawson

(LEAD GUITAR / VOCALS)

Chris became interested in music at an early age as a result of listening to his parents playing music at home. He remembers jumping around to the Beatles and the shadows at an early age. At the age of 8 years old Chris was bought his first guitar and taught himself whilst listerning to Shadows records. Chris soon mastered the guitar art quickly and moved on to his second instrument... the clarinet.

On leaving school at nearly 17 Chris joined the Light Divison Army Band studying Clarinet and music theory. Serving in Northern Ireland and Italy, his other duties included playing for Royalty, including Princess Diana and the Queen mother to name but a few. On leaving the Army Chris offered his services part-time, playing in local bands in the Manchester area of the UK playing bass guitar.

Chris has played in cabarets, blues and pop bands over the years and it has always been his interest and he's sure always will be. Chris enjoys live performance and moved to Western Australia with his family, AMELIA, SAM and OLIVER to work as a Paramedic. Chris has once again been given the chance to work with a fantastic group of guys Down Under.

Chaichai

(BASS GUITAR / VOCALS)

Chai is one of the newest members of the band and although he looks 12 in this picture he is almost a Doctor which is excellent as he compliments our two Paramedics in the band.  So if we are entertaining a little too much and the audience starts to over exert themselves remember that The Fakeouts have two Paramedics and Doogie Howser on hand at all times.  Chai is also proficient in Guitar and is great on Vocals.  Check Chai out on Tour and have some fun.

Conrad’s past and present involvements include three Big Bands and two church choirs in Perth. His spare time is taken up with having a quiet moment at his studio playing Beethoven, Duke Ellington or Billy Joel on one of his three piano’s, (with a nice glass of Red!)

He also loves all things tropical, especially spending warm holidays in Asia with his beautiful wife Trish, gardening, and cooking up a storm in his tropical paradise at home which he also shares with his beloved dogs Woody and Issey , two bird’s and an assortment of tropical and goldfish.

Conrad has always had a passion for music and his favourite quote is “Music is a gift of joy. It is the sound of beauty understood in every language”.

Dennis FrolovGetting Down With It - Jazz Style

(SAXOPHONE)

Den is a professional musician hailing from Russia.  With a contemporary jazz style that drawers you into his music you will love Den's translation of music from the 50's and 60's.  Whilst Den is still getting used to the very different music scene in Australia he is enjoying the sunshine and good times.  Den is the quietest and most reserved member of the band with an appetite to rival even Homer Simpson himself.  Check Den out on Tour and you'll be dancing in no time.

Bernard

Bernard Beeson

(GUITAR / VOCALS)

Bernard is one of the newest members of The Fakeouts coming in to fill the gap when Vini left to go back to Brazil.  Bernard is a Piano Tuner by trade and in between going to his exciting Piano Tuner Meetings and get togethers he loves to jam with the boys.

Emiel Van De Kar

Emiel Van De Kar

(DRUMS)

Emiel likes to play drums, and as long as he keeps smiling he hopes no-one will notice the timing as it changes half way through a song.....he just calls it improv jazz or something.....Emiel started his musical career on keyboard, progressing to organ then throwing in all the theory and teach himself drums. Emiel has been playing for over 14 years.

Emiel's beloved Kombi (Grover) caught on fire and went down in a towering inferno. Fortunately, his drums were mostly saved with only minor damage, except the cymbals that got crushed in the car the following day....Nooooooooo!. The drums now have a sonorous smoky feel which is perfect for some cool tunes. Emiel's good mate Mike came to the rescue although a Senior Constable held up Mike from arriving to Emiels aid.  Mike was very disappointed by this and after showing his concerns that would lead up to a court case the charges were later dropped as the WA Police realised the truth was at hand.

The band hopes to do a tribute to Grover and dedicate a song to the fire that took away Emiel's pride and joy.
